Cold Pilger Mills For Tube Rolling Of Plates

Cold pilgering process is a complex tube making process in which both diameter and thickness of the tube wall are reduced. It is generally chosen for its dimensional accuracy controlled by ratio of diameter to thickness reduction. In pilgering process, the profile of the roller die and mandrel is very important because the outer diameter surface finish depends on the roller die profile and inside diameter surface depends on the mandrel profile. Generally linear tapered profile is used for the mandrel. This paper focuses on optimum shape of Pilger mill mandrel, using FEM software considering different materials. The profile of the mandrel surface was analyzed with linear and parabolic shape using AISI H11 and AISI M4 tool steel material considering the fatigue loadingl. At the end of the analysis, the result shows that the model of the parabolic profile with M4 material gives the better result than linear with M4 material as well as both the profile of H11 material.

Cold Pilger Mill Equipment working principle:
Prefabricate the tool and die of the size required, and then install the tool and die within the equipment. In the working process of the equipment, the billets will be fed forward successively, in which the upper and lower roller will move in a reciprocating way, the outer diameter and wall thickness of the billet will be re-rolled to realize the size required by the customer through the physical change.

    Cold pilger mill is our main product.We self-designed and manufactured LG30,LG60,LG90,LG120,LG180 and LG250 type series of cold pilger mill in 2003,and developed LG30HGL high-speed rolling mill (160 times/min) in domestic in 2010,so filled the domestic blank. In 20011, we developed LG10H, LG20H, LG40H, LG50H series cold pilger mills, which all adopted the leading, Rexroth servo motor control system in domestic area, and realized full automation of continuous feeding and rolling. In 2012, we developed the planet form super speed cold pilger mill LG20 and LG15 whose designed stroke is 220 times/min. Then successively developed  LG 30H, LG50H cold pilger mill with crank-shaft balance system (max stroke is 180 times/min), for old and new customers to choose. At present, we are planning to continue developing LG350, LG420 type cold pilger mill, and other specifications.
